Home Books Genres Recommendations About Me

Latest Book Added

So...... Cheers for finding this page! This is just a place for me to share what I've read, and hopefully help others find decent books, some of which aren't always easy to find.

This website kind of is built for three purposes:

1. Make a place to keep track of what I've read. This has always been a problem for me, and after years the graveyard of books where only vague memories of the storyline still exists has simply grown too large. This could always be done on other platforms, but I've always wanted more freedom on how I tag and rate books, and this should help get books I enjoy more out there.

2. Learning how to create a website from the relative ground-up and seeing how all the pieces go-together has been on the TODO list for a while. It's not remotely my passion, I've just always been a bit interested and this project is my way of satisfying that itch so to speak.

3. I'm currently in a German speaking country and my German is still at the level of a not too inquisitive 6 year old. This is a more active method to find a way to make sure I keep up my written German skills. Someday there will be some actual German pages too.....

Look around and enjoy yourself, more books will come as I rack my memory on what I've read over the years and continue to add what I'm reading. The books will be primarily fantasy. It's the best genre out there, and at-least for me it continues to not grow stale. The rating system will simply be a recommend or not recommend. One of my big gripes is that when I visit a site like Goodreads, I have no way on how to interpret the /5 rating. Examples being: Some genres have in general a much higher rating than others. The average rating for fantasy books is too high, and this makes you question any book that isn't insanely highly rated itself. Nothing is less useful to me than when I read two conflicting reviews from people I have no clue about, for a book I'm tossing up whether to read. So please look around and enjoy yourself. Focus more on the simple recommend or not recommend instead of the review itself.
