Blurb: (From Book 1) Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Review: One of the earliest series I ever started, and something I credit with getting me into reading so heavily. If you're at this page then I have to stretch my imagination to come up with scenarios where you haven't heard of Harry Potter, so you probably already know that this series is worth giving a shot.

I am fairly biased because I grew up with this series, and think it captured growing up through your teen years fantastically. The world building is iconic enough that movie franchises and theme parks are built off the back of it. I think there is a push-back on the quality of this series due to the many more recent iterations of this type of story, it's popularity that makes it a constant benchmark for comparisons, and the author's controversial online statements. While I think all those points are valid, I still enjoy the series, and its many accolades are well earned. If you're a bit younger, then I think this series is definitely worth reading. If you're older and in the mood for a story with a true focus on a hidden wizarding world, then I would still highly recommend giving this series a shot.
