Book 1: The Three Body Problem
Blurb: (From Book 1) Set against the backdrop of China's Cultural Revolution, a secret military project sends signals into space to establish contact with aliens. An alien civilization on the brink of destruction captures the signal and plans to invade Earth. Meanwhile, on Earth, different camps start forming, planning to either welcome the superior beings and help them take over a world seen as corrupt, or to fight against the invasion. The result is a science fiction masterpiece of enormous scope and vision.
Review: This is an odd one. The first book is really good, yet for some reason I didn't feel like finishing the series. This review thus only extends to the first novel. So, the book's inventine. I think the concept, the setting, the solutions to the simulation problems, all of it's creative and fun to read. The book also gives some good insight into what it was like during the Cultural Revolution in China. The main character Ye feels really well written, and I really enjoyed how it works in her degree of Astrophysics. I highly recommend this book, and even if you're like me and don't feel like continuing, the first book can be read as a self-contained stand-alone!
