Blurb: In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.
Review: Simply can't be mentioned without LOTR. This is a prequel to that series, and the events of this book set the stage for the series pretty thoroughly. That being said, this is a very different book. The tone is much lighter, and I think the intended audience younger. The Hobbit is more of a classical adventure, with not many moving subplots, and the story is constantly moving without lingering. The book's comparatively short and holds up supremely well. It's a massive recommend!
