Blurb: Lidae is a daughter, a wife, a mother - and a great warrior born to fight. Her sword is hungry for killing, her right hand is red with blood.
War is very much a woman's business. But war is not kind to women. And war is not kind to mothers and their sons.
Review: I couldn't bring myself to finish this book. I got to 20% of the way through and was just not getting into it, so it's possible that some tags are missing. The premise and blurb were promising and I got quite into at the start, but the story had a pretty abrupt tonal shift, which while more on point with what I originally expected from the story, didn't land well. I also wasn't a fan of the writing style, although I'm not sure I know exactly why. The writing had a nice flow occasionally, but there was a disconnect between the perspective and the ongoing story, which while appropriate still felt stilted in its delivery. Simply not for me. I wouldn't recommend it unless the blurb is exactly up your alley and even then I'd rather not warn off as opposed to recommend.
