Blurb: (From Book 1) Six thousand years ago. Evil stalks the land. Only twelve-year-old Torak and his wolf-cub companion can defeat it. Their journey together takes them through deep forests, across giant glaciers, and into dangers they never imagined.
In this page-turning, original, and spectacularly told adventure story, Torak and Wolf are joined by an incredible cast of characters as they battle to save their world, in this first book in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness.
Review: I read the first few books of this series obsessively when I was younger. The world felt so immersive, the struggles of a prehistoric age were well captured, and the unknown was presented as a beautiful combination of mysterious and terrifying. The three main characters, Torak, Renn, and Wolf had what to me were realistic relationship dynamics, and I greatly enjoyed seeing them develop over the series. The exploration of the wild, the forest looked after by the World Spirit and populated by soul eaters, had me enthralled. Combined with the relatively small size of each book, and their clear story arcs, this was a fantastic series. Strong recommend for younger readers.
