Review: For some reason I'd describe this series as wholesome. The plot is bat shit insane at times, and the first book acts a gateway into the craziness, with it normalising the following ones. I love it though. I also enjoy the characters and their relationships, especially the focus on some of the side characters and the family aspect.
Consider the plot to be Indiana Jones esque, in that it relies heavily on some altered form of ancient history but takes place in the current modern world, and is very international in setting. Jack West Jr is a solid substitute for Indi too. This is a big recommend from me, particularly the first book, and then if you enjoy that the first three books. They form a sort of stand-alone novel that was extended to a trilogy. The fourth book didn't quite capture the magic of the first three. If you've read any of this authors previous work then you probably know what to expect already: good content, fair bit of action, pretty damn rough around the edges.
